Committees

If you are interested in joining any of these committees, contact our Volunteer Coordinator or call the Habitat Office.  Please check the Events and Meetings Calendar for Committee meeting dates and locations.

The committee’s primary responsibility is to find community support for the affiliate’s financial and volunteer needs, as well as advocacy on affordable housing issues. They communicate Habitat’s position in the community through participation in community forums and legislative activity. The committee also focuses on identifying opportunities for Habitat to build new partnerships and develop and annual outreach plan to execute their goals.

The committee organizes and carries out application, interview, and selection processes. We find the families who fit the criteria of need for shelter, ability to make no-interest loan payments, and willingness to partner with Habitat for Humanity. The committee consists of professional underwriters to work on files and community members to perform home visits for families.

The finance committee assists with preparation of the affiliate’s annual budget as well as periodic cash flow projections. This committee also helps prepare monthly financial statements for the board of directors and assists with mortgage processing and delinquency issues when necessary.

The fund development committee supports Habitat staff in implementing the overall fundraising plan for the affiliate. This typically involves assisting with event planning, major gifts, donor cultivation, annual fund, grant research, and house sponsorships.

Members of this committee work to identify available land and negotiate land donations for future Habitat home sites. This committee is also responsible for monitoring the affiliate’s progress towards meeting strategic goals.
