Habitat for Humanity ReStore is Now Open!

Habitat celebrated the grand opening of our new ReStore location on April 30th and opened for the public on May 1st. The discount home store sells donated building materials, supporting Habitat’s housing fund and mission to “Recycle, Reduce, Reuse and Rebuild”. By accepting donations, the ReStore salvages quality building materials from landfills and makes them available to the public at a fraction of the price.
Construction on the new store located at 1402 W. Washington Street, has been underway since November of 2008. Originally a discount warehouse with limited hours and monthly garage sales, it will now be open Wednesday through Friday from 10:00am to 5:00pm and Saturday 9:00am to 4:00pm. Customers will find items such as doors and windows, electrical and plumbing supplies, lighting and bath fixtures, cabinets, flooring, home décor, appliances, and new and gently used furniture. Equally, donations for these types of items are needed and gladly accepted. The first step in donating is to call the ReStore at 309.454.6047 to discuss your donation with the staff.

Store manager, Steve Stolarick has been with the ReStore since 1999 and will continue management at the new location. Steve explained he is especially excited about the convenient new location, a bigger selling area, and a great following of loyal customers. The larger property also serves as a much-needed central storage location for Habitat’s own construction supplies and materials. The added space will allow for more readily available materials and reduced costs from bulk purchasing.
